Break for Color

It's been a while since I posted anything from the DSLR, in part because I don't carry it around as much as the others and in part because I haven't been as into the crispness it provides. This one, from a little while back, was shot on Vine Street in Hollywood. It's south of where the real action is but still boasts a nice, garish mix of colors.

Treble Clef

I drive through the intersection of Gower and Santa Monica pretty regularly, and always remark the array of electrical lines. On this day, a couple months ago, they were set off even more by the dark clouds. So, stopped at the traffic light, I pulled the Canon out of the glove and ended up with this.

Love the Overpass

I can't remember where I was driving when I shot this, but I somehow think it was near where Beverly dips down and heads into downtown. There are other overpass shots on the site, most of them shot from stalled traffic on the freeway, and at some point I'll sit down and compare them and think about what it is about them that draws me.

Complete the Image

Travel and delays in processing, among other distractions, kept the most recent batch from coming through (that, and Nardulli, the convenient processing lab I'd been using finally succumbed to the digital revolution) meant some time passed since I shot this in Koreatown back in early April. I've always liked playing with lines and shadow, and architecture almost always provides either a good subject or a good backdrop.
