One of the Joys of L.A.
What is most engaging to me about Los Angeles, in many ways, is the ability to turn off a main road and run into something totally unexpected or incongruous. That happened recently when I was driving with my son west on Sunset Boulevard from downtown. We pulled off for a quick stop, and I don't now recall if I was in Echo Park or had gotten all the way to Silver Lake, but we came across the winding street that had a touch of rural chapparal.

I agree. I was driving around Dodger Stadium area a week ago and saw the same thing in a ravine or two and tucked away in abandoned lots.
