New Tool

Have upgraded from the Treo to the Pre, which has a higher-resolution camera (and flash) built in, and so more phone images will start to appear here. This was from a kids show by the Silver Sun Pickups a couple weeks ago.

Brite Spot

We went to breakfast at the Brite Spot on Sunset one Sunday not too long ago. My son had expressed an interest in lomography (prompted more by a visit to a toy camera store in Barcelona than anything else, I think) and so I told him we'd share a Holga. He brought it with us to breakfast, and outside the restaurant I saw these bikes and asked if I could borrow it back.

Lost in LA

Found on another detour trying to escape traffic on the 101. Lord of Harvest is tucked on a little street just north of the freeway and west of Alvarado.

One of the Joys of L.A.

What is most engaging to me about Los Angeles, in many ways, is the ability to turn off a main road and run into something totally unexpected or incongruous. That happened recently when I was driving with my son west on Sunset Boulevard from downtown. We pulled off for a quick stop, and I don't now recall if I was in Echo Park or had gotten all the way to Silver Lake, but we came across the winding street that had a touch of rural chapparal.
