Funky Color

The Grove, at Fairfax and Third. More funky color from the 99 Cent store disposable.

Princess on the Road

I went to the 99 Cents Only store looking for some cheap film and found instead only those disposable cameras. For a buck, why not try it. The color was oddly orange and warm, the focus exactly what I expected. The first one was a test, lots of really bad throwaway images, but now that I have a sense of what to expect I'm going to go out and get some more.

A Little More Abstract

Back to that toy camera and the cheap color film. One can't have expectations that run too high with these things - they are never as good or bad as you hope, occupying that middle ground that makes them, at best, unremarkable. I think I managed to grab a couple decent one out of the one roll I shot, the truck grille posted earlier, and this, shot through the car window on a rainy day.

Cheap, Cheap, Cheap

The costliest piece of this image was in the processing. Had another roll of that 99 Cents Only Store color film in the fridge, so I thought I'd throw it in one of those toy cameras my kids had lying around - the kind that makes a $22 Holga look pricey. The results were as uneven as I'd expected, but I kind of liked the way it rendered the textures of this truck parked in an alley in Pasadena.
